Cream butter & sugar, add vanilla.

Butterballs
Makes 4 dozen
1 cup butter softened
1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
2-1/4 cups sifted flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup walnuts
Set aside.
Mix all dry ingredients
and add to butter mixture.
Mix well.
Shape dough into balls
(approximately 1 inch in diameter).
Bake at 400 degrees
for 12-15 minutes or
until slightly brown.
Put confectioner's sugar into a bowl
and roll the warm cookies.
Set on wax paper to cool.
