Portugal wine

The home of the vintage Porto. The grapes are grown in the Douro Valley on very steep hillsides. After the harvest the grapes are partially fermented and then pure alcohol is added which fortifies the wine and stops the fermentation and leaves a bit of sweetness in the wine. The main grapes are Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Nacional.

White, red and rose wines for everyday use are produced and known by such producers as Mateus and Lancers.
